Old A5-Need Manufacturing Date Help

A friend brought an older A5 over a few nights ago. The serial number has me puzzled as to the build date. It reads 72V, then below 7082. Anyone help? I believe the V stands for 12 gauge magnum. Is the 72 1972? Thanks.
