Wife and I started shooting pistols for the first time last May. Bought a 1911-380 last September. Have put about 2,000 rounds through it. Started dry firing a month ago, this made a significant change in my accuracy. Plan to use it at the range and a carry gun. Starting to think how long a barrel will last, any ideas? Thanks, Tim.
Hi Tim and welcome. Normal shooting and average maintenance should get you to 50,000 rounds and more than likely well beyond. I know personally some comp shooters that are in the 60,000- 80,000 range and aren't concerned, nor experiencing any accuracy issues. You have certainly shot more than most new shooters in 5 months, but I'd bet it will be tough to wear out that barrel even if you continue to shoot 4000 rounds annually, but it will be fun trying! Congrats, and welcome to the community
