Need a little help on value of an A5

Discussion in 'Browning Auto A-5' started by Charles N Lambrecht, Jun 17, 2015.

  1. I have a 1961 A5 12 gauge that I got from the son of the original owner. It appears to be in very good shape, no rust & no excessive wear on internal parts. One side of the stock is a bit discolored (dark), and there is a hairline crack in the forearm. The original instructions under the forearm are still intact and legible. I also have the original owners manual.
    I bought this as a favor to the guy, but my safe is full and I will probably never shoot it. I am looking to sell it, but only want to ask a fair price.
    Can anyone give me an idea as to value?
    Thanks

    Most of my books only have current A5 price guidelines...but I'm sure someone here will weigh in !!

    I'd guess $500-$700. Guns choked Full and Modified generally go for less than Improved, Skeet, and Cylinder bore. That's thanks to steel shot requirements for waterfowl.

    Th choke is marked by stars on the barrel.
    * FULL
    ** Modified
    *- Improved
    *$ Skeet
    *** Cylinder
