No, I'm not trying to name it, but I'd like to determine what parts drawing is right before I need to do any repairs or maintenance on it. I see references to a pre-'81 BLR (which I once had but lost to a thief), an model '81, and something called a 'Lightning' version. The one I bought about two years ago is called a 'Lightweight' on the box it came in, not a 'Lightning' so I'm not sure what I have. Can someone enlighten (pun intended) me, please?
You sir have a BLR model 81 lightweight. Lightning was Brownings first blr with an aluminum receiver and pistol grip. Now they make pistol or straight grip but all are called blr 81 lightweight. Read this article. Very in depth and informative ,should actually be a sticky on this forum. http://shootingwithhobie.blogspot.com/2010/10/browning-lever-action-rifle-blr-by.html?m=1
Thanks, Deepgrass! Of course, I haven't seen a drawing for it, but I'm guessing that the other varieties are close enough to use in a pinch. Great article!!
