Just found the site, it looks to be somewhat new. I like the ground rules. I'm Armymark from Alaska. Retired Sergeant Major and avid hunter and fly fisher. My main connection to Browning is my love of single shot rifles and I have a couple 1885s. In fact, I bagged a couple caribou this year with both rifles. One chambered in 45-70 and the other in 30-06. I look forward top getting to know all of you and to share and learn things about our firearms.

Well Hooah! I'm a paratrooping light fighter, or at least used to be! This looks like a great site and I'm looking forward to learneing and sharing with everyone about our passion. I really hope you can create a sub forum for the 1885.

I joined this site in hopes first off of locating a current supplier of some scope bases for B 78. Any idea if the 1885 since they seem be available but nothing found to fit a B 78.

mstrawn, thatsa a tough one thewre. First off let me say I don't own or have any personal experience with the B78. That said I would try Burris. I have Burris on my 45-70 but I still needed to shim it. I think you should call Leupold or Burris and ask them if they have a solution. You challenge is not unique, many people are looking for the same thing. I look around and see what i can find.

Try this guy(Kendig, Garth [productspecialist@Leupold.com]) at Leupold but be advised, the Leupold bases on the B78 require a short and a medium. I don't like this idea because it is not like the original Browning mounts. Burris mounts are identical to the Browning mount only they have "Burris" stamped on them instead of "Browning". Good luck and post what your solution is, I'm interested to see how you solved it.
