I purchased a new Browning X-bolt stainless stalker in a 280 a couple of days ago. This is my first ever rifle with a detachable magazine. I noticed after snapping the magazine in place it has a little play. Is this normal or should it be a tight no movement fit?

Welcome to the Browning Owners Forum !!

A little play in the magazine area is to be expected...and as long as it feeds OK, it shouldn't be anything to worry about.
  3. I have yet to see one of these with no play at all. Apparently it is an engineered fit. It is a remarkable system and I think it could be superior to floor plate rifles. I have quite af few of the floor plate rifles. I think they are heavier, don’t usially wiggle at all. A Winchester Model 70 floor plate has zero movement. The X Bolt magazine has a tiny bit of wiggle. And it weighs less and loads faster!
