Bought a hornet but the bore and throat are badly pitted. Oddly, it still shoots fairly well.

I bought a new Browning factory barrel. It is in the white and short chambered for final fitting.

The "but", it will be be a great shooter with the new barrel, but, I loose the factory markings. Or I could have it lined. I can't make up my mind!

Leaning towards new barrel and keep the original with the rifle

I did not realize they made the A-bolt in .22 Hornet. It's a shame the prior owner did not keep it maintained. I'd get it blued and go with the new barrel. The only A-bolt I have is in .22. Beautiful gun and very accurate. The only Hornet I ever had was in a 77 Ruger with the floated heavy barrel. Tried everything, never could get it to shoot to my satisfaction. Traded it and bought a CZ bolt gun in 17HMR with heavy barrel. 1" groups at 100 yards all day long.

I have 2, one plain and the other with the factory engraving, Midas. Both shoot very good. Magazines are very hard to find.
