Following Justin post "what is your favorite auto-5", I would ask you, what auto-5 would you most like to have or to add to your collection?
The one FN sent to JMB in September of 1903. Back to realistic I would just love one with a straight stock.
That's an easy one--------whatever the next one turns out to be. Seriously, I would love to have a REAL early one.
After thinking about this, I have always wanted one of every year from the beginning up until they went to Japan. If you subtract the war years, off the top of my head, that would put me just under half way there. (Only 12s BTW.) Therefore, however it turns out in the grand scheme of things, the last one that completes my quest would obviously be my dream Auto5. Yeah, yeah, yeah, laugh all you want-----------------I have wasted for more money on far stupider things during my lifetime. Remember, Auto5s have a soul. I am merely saving souls.
I remember how excited I was when I found my first straight grip. At the time, I made a post on an European forum and I presented my 1904 (top of picture) and the last Tribute in 1999 the end of the Browning auto 5 (bottom of the picture). Antmam73 it won’t be long before you find one. Good luck
Well, that is easy, there are two for sale on Steve Barnett fine gun. I don’t know about you Rudolph, but I am sure my boss wouldn’t approve such spending.
Would that be the one with the Browning patent on the bottom of the receiver, the first 500. I have been looking for one for over 10 years.
I wish you good luck Justin. You will certainly find the first year 12 ga in your country. First year 16 ga, only in Europe I would say. Unfortunately bringing a gun from there is a real challenge. We can go together and tour the gun shop in Belgium and France. I could be your interpreter. I didn’t know they were such thing as a 3 shot sweet sixteen. Have you seen them in the U.S.?
Thanks Marc. I would love to do a trip over there sometime. Be careful I might take you up on that offer. There is such thing as a 3 shot Sweet Sixteen. I have one but it’s not labeled as a Sweet Sixteen. It has the milling cuts on the inside of the action. Five holes in the barrel ring and a hollowed out stock. Gold trigger too
Marc this is the 3 shot Sweet http://browningowners.com/forum/index.php?threads/3-shot-stealth-sweet-16.11117/
