Hi, Paul Bradley out of North Carolina. Brand new. Members to the forum. I recently purchased my first over under a 1987? Browning Citori hunter 12 gauge 3 1/2”. From what I have read it should be an Invector (standard) choke. However I purchased some Carlson extended chokes for (Invector, browning, Winchester) and the choke threads do not insert far enough to reach the threaded part of the barrels. I have taken some pictures of the choke that came in the barrels next to the Carlson choke. Is it possible the barrels are Invector plus (even though the marking says invector on the side)? https://imgur.com/a/browning-citori-barrel-HKVbv60
Welcome sir, those look like invector plus chokes in the picture. The invector chokes are short and the threads in the barrel are close to the end. If you run your hand down the barrel, you should be able to feel a slight bulge. If you do that's invector plus for sure. That choke that was in the barrel should be marked, might need to clean off a little to see it.
Thank you. You are correct they are Invector plus. I took the barrel with me into VA today for work and stopped by bass pro, they let me open up an Invector plus choke to try it out and it fit. It’s odd to me that the barrel is marked for Invector and that the serial number for the gun shows it to be a 1987. But the gun shoots well and Invector plus chokes are easy enough to come by too. Thank you for the help!
Yes sir, glad to help. Good deal on the chokes. I like the invector + better anyway. Some folks say they pattern better but I have not seen that. Anyway, check back in with us when you can. Good group here.
Inherited a 1989 3.5" Citori for Christmas and I'm seeing the same thing. Glad I found this thread because I'm not seeing any other references about 3.5" Citoris being marked Invector but actually taking Invector Plus chokes.
