I took the iron sights off of my Browning BLR '81 stainless takedown long action in 300 Win Mag because I wasn't using them and they were catching on stuff ... I tried some 6-48x 1/8" filler plugs to fill the 2 holes in the muzzle end of the barrel but they stood proud of the barrel metal when fully tightened ... I'm using clear fingernail polish now to fill all the holes ... can't find any 6-48 filler plugs with a shank length any shorter than 1/8" ... any ideas??

Carefully file the head down just flush and then put a single cut in the head to remove with flat tip.

Fill the holes with some grey colored silicone sealer then wipe off or cut off the excess when it dries at least you will be able to remove it down the road.
