I need to start patterning my reloads but who has time for that? Anyway I loaded 50 rounds of these and headed to the skeet field. I shot a pair of 23’s with a full choked Auto 5!

    Cheddite hulls trimmed to 65mm
    Cheddite primer
    20.5 grains of Alliant 20/28
    SG16 wad
    1 oz #9 magnum shot
    Polywad spreader insert

These loads cycled great and recoil was pretty mild. Plus they look pretty

They do look good. Don’t get much better, it does take time to pattern, but if a good pattern it’s very satisfying. I guess I do it to have total confidence in my reloads. Yes they get shot on the skeet field and you can probably tell if they are go or no go, however, 3-5 shots on paper is a easy visual thing, and you can often spot things that you wouldn’t notice on the skeet field if the target breaks.
One thing that pattern work does is to show you what say 1 less grain of powder does to a load. For us if it has the same pattern and cycles the auto 5 with 1 less grain, then it saves powder.
