Hello, I'm new to this forum. I've acquired a very nice Sweet 16 I believe to have been made for the European Market. Does anyone know anything about these sweet 16's
Thanks for the reply. Mine has the swivels and the serial #is FN 25288B. I can't find any information to date it. From what I've read on other posts it seems to be mid 70's. Any other information would be greatly appreciated.
Sling swivels are pretty standard on European guns. The serial number doesn't conform to the system I'm familiar with, but like with Brownings it probably changed several times. A picture of the proof marks will hopefully show the date code.
Yup, that's it. It looks like a cursive "g" which would make it 1968. I'd like to see the rest of those pictures. http://damascus-barrels.com/Belgian_All_Proofmarks.html
I'm sure it's worth whatever you paid for it. But if I were bidding on a new-in-box World Market Sweet Sixteen, I would hope to get it for $1200 but be prepared to bid to $1500. Others might go over $2000. Beautiful gun, thanks for sharing.
Neat. I have a similar one, but not "Sweet 16" marked. Mine has the "FN" stamped on the left of the receiver, "Acier Special" barrel, and a monte carlo stock. It shoots great. I posted about it on here also. *I had to edit this post, my shotgun does not have Browning's head on the receiver like I thought it did.
Thanks for all your input, I paid $1100 for it and now jut trying to find all the info I can. Thanks again...
That's a terrific bargain. They're not making them NIB anymore, so the prices can go very high. Congratulations.
