Looking at this 16 it appears to be in good condition. It has been converted to 23/4'' the wood is solid with no cracks. It does have some buggered up screws and a recoil pad. What would a fair price be?

    My guess is $400-$500.

This is the first time I see the address on the rib. Is it commun for the auto-5?

    Biz,

When Browning started re-importing the Auto-5 in 1923, they used that barrel address. It changed to St. Louis around 1929 or ‘30. A 1929 barrel may have both Ogden and St. Louis on it.

Interesting but I didn’t know the address was on the rib and not on the barrel?

It’s on the barrel when there’s no rib, and sometimes to the left of a ribbed barrel.

I was finally able to buy this 1925 A5 for a decent price. I completely disassembled , cleaned and replaced all the springs. IMG_1662.JPG IMG_1662.JPG [AT

Congranulations, I am assuming you’re going to use it for hunting, it is not going to be a collector piece since you change some original parts. Did you keep the replaced parts?

Yes I will use for some hunting and clays shooting. Through the years the gun has had some changes it was converted to 23/4, couple of the screws have been replaced and a recoil pad added. The springs I replaced I felt were needed for good operation. The gun is not a high end collectable just a good old shooter.
