Howdy folks, new here and was wondering if I could get some information about a gun I just purchased. It is a Browning BAR Lightweight Stalker, in .308 win and has an 18" fluted barrel. I've done a little searching online, but havent come up with much about this particular rifle. I was told that it was part of a limited production of 150 rifles that Browning put out back in 2009, but that's about it.

Can anybody give me any more info about this particular gun?

    Thanks,

Welcome to the Browning Owners Community T-Roy!!! Seems like you stumbled across a great find. From my understanding they only made 150 in 2009 and that particular model comes with an alloy receiver to help shave some weight. never shot or seen one in person but just heard great things about them over the past couple of years. good luck with it and let us know how it shoots.

Thanks for the welcome. Yep, the gun supposedly weighs less than 7 pounds, and with that short 18" barrel, should be a great brush gun. I live and hunt in the Missouri Ozarks, heavy timber, steep hills, etc.

She should be just about perfect for my needs. I'll let ya know how she shoots. Still waitin on her to show up....

I found it for sale on Gunbroker, with only 20 rounds down the pipe. Same as new. It is one of the best balanced little carbines I've ever handled, and it's a tack-driver. It's by far the most accurate semi-auto I've ever owned, including my AR's. This little booger will shoot half inch groups at 100 yards all day long. I'm guessing due to the short, stiff barrel. Definitely a Keeper!

I bought it new about 3 years ago. 308 "18 fluted barrel composite stock. very acurte 170 yards 3 touching.. 150 grain winchester bullet. 3 years---3 bucks and a 7 pound trout. I would appreciate more info on this gun. It is a Light Weight Stalker. Thanks

I just traded for one of these rifles yesterday. Have been looking for the right BAR for a couple of years now and stumbled onto this one that the owner wanted to trade for one of my Smith and Wesson target pistols.
I am psyched to have found one of these rare BARs and can't wait to shoot it. I also need to find a lightweight scope and mount for it. Sadly, it appears that there isn't much in the way of information on these out there except for the fact that they are a limited edition run of only 150 rifles in 2009. I will post on how it functions and shoots when I sight it in later this summer...By the way, I love the way it shoulders and hope to see some bucks through the sights in years to come...I think this has to be one of the best hunting BARs ever made.

Very accurate, i get 3 touching at 170 yards , using 150 gr bullet. I'm using a 3x9 Nikon Prostaff scope. I take 1 buck per year. Excellent rifle , low recoil and easy to carry, with the 18" fluted barrel. I would like to know more about this model. Thanks for the post.

That's a shooter for sure! How much more weight did the Leupold add to the rifle...I was thinking I'd try a fixed 2.5 Leupold lighwteight scope on it with a DNZ aluminum 1 piece base...heard good things about these mounts.

Scope's are light. i think low profile is important. The adjustment screws stick up to high on some of them. You may want to check out the Nikon Prostaff or something that size. These are very nice rifles and they deserve a good scope.

Definitely not going to cheap out on a scope...I'm looking at Leupold, Burris, Zeiss and even though I haven't looked Nikon yet I will because I respect their reputation. I do think this rifle deserves something light and fast.
