Hello all - I am new to the forum and to Browning's. I have purchased a Auto 5 from a friend of mine and have been hunting around for some information on this gun. I am interested in it's date of manufacture and any other factoids. Is there any website that I can learn how to take it apart? Thanks for helping me out.
Welcome to the Browning Owners Forum PKCLEVE !! The Browning Auto-5 was the first mass-produced semi-automatic shotgun. About those "low" serial numbers. When letter model codes were introduced in 1953, (12 gauge, the 16 gauge waters are a little muddy) each model got its own run of numbers. In 1958 a single digit was added for the year. In 1968 they had to add a second digit. So low is only low if it stands alone.
