143 g Hornaday did a good job on a Maine Moose

My girlfriend used my 6.5 CM on a moose last week. The guide reassured me that it would be just fine. The moose took about 5 steps, then collapsed into a heap when shot through the heart. She is 4'10" and 100 lbs, tolerated the recoil fine. It's worth a lot to be able to hit your target, than blast it into next week.

I would have chosen the 160gr round nose Hornady in my 6.5X55 Swede. My Tikka T3 is the most boring (for a handloader) rifle I own. It overlaps bullet holes at 100 meters with every bullet I've tried. 6.5X55 and Creedmoor ballistics are very similar.

As I no longer hand load, 143 ELD-X was the heaviest load that I've found. Also, tack drivers. Penetration was excellent, btw. I like a "boring" firearm, one that bores a tiny hole. As the guide said, shoot em in the heart, they don't do well with low blood pressure.
