    Hey guys o inherited a browning auto 5 from my grandfather. It appears to be a pre WW2 sweet 16. Can anyone help me out with this?

    It has 2 barrels. The both say special steel and made in belgium. One appears to be a full choke and one is a modified I believe.

    Ray, you've got a 1959 Sweet Sixteen.

    The full choked barrel is old -- its serial number shows it came off a 1926 gun. It has been modified to shoot modern 2 3/4" ammunition from its original 2 9/16" chambering.

    The other barrel is probably original to the gun, but they stopped putting serial numbers on barrels in 1953. Choke codes appeared in 1930. You don't show a picture but they are:

    *** CYLINDER
    **- IMPROVED
    **$ SKEET
    ** MODIFIED
    * FULL

    Thanks alot Rudolph I really appreciate it. What is a ball park value for it? It's probably 80% I won't sell it I'm just curious

    I'd guess $400-$600 since it has an extra barrel. But a full choke on a 16 gauge is practically useless since the steel shot regs for waterfowl. How is the other barrel choked?

    Yup, Modified. I think most guys would prefer Cylinder or Improved Cylinder. I have a full choked 1924 16 that I shoot occasionally. I use spreader loads so I can hit the targets.
