Sorry if this is already here and I missed it--

Anyone else seen the ad on Browning's homepage for the 1911-380? I would LOVE to see one and operate it. Anyone know anything about them? Do they use the actual John M Browning patent fire control mechanism?

The website says "January 2015," but that's all as far as timing of availability.

Nobody here has or can get them yet, but a local shop was surprised and interested when I asked about them. I handled a 1911-22 they have, and I think it would be a great size for a 380.

    I wouldn't mind having a 1911 in .380acp...

I love the .380 ACP and the 1911. I guess I am eager for the new gun--the perfect pistol.

Thanks for the welcome. I love Brownng firearms.

    Own a few .380's myself...a Colt Model 1908 and a Walther PPK/s.

    It's a good caliber...

Buddy of mine walks up to me the other day...says hold out your hand...and drops a Kimber .380 in it. Same idea as above...a 1911 styled .380.

I have a Colt Government .380. It's a great little gun. I like the size of the new Browning.

The Browning web site no longer says "January," but "coming soon."

I haven't seen one. When I talked to Browning ~2 weeks ago, they claimed to have just received the first batch, and that they were headed out shortly. The huge national chains should get them first.

Well, I hate to start off this way being it is my first post here, but I already have a Star model S in .380 and it is all steel except for the grips. It may not be an exact copy of the 1911, but is close enough for me. It is a locked breech design, as is the Browning. This locked breech reduces the recoil to a level that one might expect from a cartridge of this power level.

I would like to try the Browning, but I already have too many guns anyway..

Dang, the feds here better hurry up I am pretty excited to see if this firearm is as good as they say. And may have to shop Stateside for extra mags. God knows how long it'll take to get them here.
Thanks for update Train, let us know how it performs at the range.
