I'm taking my a5 light twelve out dove hunting for the first time and I have historically used Remington SureShot heavy dove (#8, 1 1/8 oz, 1255 fps). Should I set up the friction rings for heavy or light loads? Im a little confused about what qualifies as heavy. Obviously if I was something bigger than 8 or high brass loads it would be simpler. Thanks!

Always set the rings for heavy loads. Then, if the gun won't cycle, switch to the light setting. 1 1/8 oz should cycle fine on the heavy setting if you work a couple drops of motor oil under the friction piece. If you shoot anything heavier than 1 1/8 oz you might want to wipe the oil off the mag tube.
